Growing up in Missouri, a favorite vacation spot was Branson which is located in the Ozark Mountains of southern Missouri. The area has really grown but one place that has been a favorite of mine since I was young is Silver Dollar City. We think my first visit was around 1976 and we visited a few times each year and of course, my favorite part was visiting with the woodcarvers. My Dad purchased his first set of woodcarving tools from "the City" around 1980 or so and I still use them today and matter of fact, I use them while I carve at Valley Woodcarvers located in Silver Dollar City! 2020 was my second season as a Guest Woodcarver and it's certainly a dream come true for me that I get to spend time carving and visiting with the guests that come in the shop. To top it all off, I received the Guest Woodcarver of the Year Award for 2020 which was quite an honor considering all of the talented carvers that work and carve at the City. Only a few more weeks left in the season so be sure to stop in the shop and take a look at all of the great work by a great bunch of carvers.
